Athens KTC meets every Sunday morning at 10 am to meditate and to study Tibetan Buddhism. We meet at 37 Ohio Avenue, in the building of the Factory Street Dance Studio. We invite you to join us.
If you’re unfamiliar with meditation or Buddhism, that’s not a problem — we welcome newcomers and are happy to spend time with visitors to introduce these subjects and answer questions. No need to bring anything special. Mats and cushions are available at the Center for your use.
(tranquility meditation) We sit for 20 minutes, break for walking meditation for 10 minutes, then sit for another 20 minutes. Newcomers are always welcome, and an introduction to the basics of meditation is offered at no charge.
After meditation, join us for coffee, tea, and snacks. Our tea time lasts for approximately 15 minutes and is a great opportunity to ask questions and get to know others in the Athens KTC community.
Sundays at 11:15am, we study Buddhism, with questions and discussion. (Except the first and last Sunday of each month. See Chenrezik Practice and Planning Meeting information.)
On the first Sunday of each month, instead of studying we chant the Chenrezik sadhana, a prayer of compassion. All are welcome and no special knowledge is required.
On the last Sunday of each month we meet after tea to discuss the events and priorities of the Athens KTC. All are welcome to attend.
The only time we are not open on Sunday is when the Athens County Sheriff issues a Level 2 or higher snow emergency. Please stay home and stay safe if the weather is not cooperating!
